Arab TV drama shunned despite Emmy
A controversial TV drama featuring a love-story between an Arab man and an Israeli woman is being shunned by Arab broadcasters despite winning a prestigious Emmy award. The series Al Ijtiyah, (the Invasion) is set during Israel's attack on Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank in 2002. It is the first Arab production to win the International Emmy Award, recognised widely as the most prestigious award in television, for the new Telenovela category.
