Can Adam Sandler ever star in a truly funny film? Perhaps "Anger Management" will be his first step to more enjoyable comedies by the looks of things. Yet again, can one really change their style?

In a seemingly rushed start, David Buznik (Sandler) is put on a plane n order to go to a conference in St. Louis. Somebody takes his assigned seat, and he is forced to sit next to a maniac who won't stop laughing at the comedy being shown on the flight. Buznik decides to get in on the laughter, and after a confrontation with a flight attendant, he is tasered for his out of control air "rage." Thus, Buznik is sentenced to anger management classes with the well known anger guru Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson). However, after another accident taken for a much larger incident, Buznik is forced to share his apartment with Rydell for thirty days of chronic anger control methods. But Rydell seems to be a bit odd, from sleeping with David (in the nude, none the less) and breaking David's belongings to teach him to control his anger. Rydell's unorthadox behavior forces Dave to cause car pile ups, miss work and almost end his relationship with his girlfriend, Linda (Marissa Tomei). In fact, he's afraid that Linda will go off and fall for a much "larger" man named Andrew, who David truly and deeply despises. But Buddy helps David deal with his boss, his childhood nemesis turned Buddhist Monk (John C. Reilly), and even travel to Boston (where he meets an actress played by Heather Graham). But David still isn't sure of Rydell's methods, especially when they interupt his personal life.

Filled to the top with sexual jokes, violence and nonsense humor, "Anger Management" is hardly a great movie. The previews make the film look hilarious, especially with Jack Nicholson in the film. In fact, Jack is great, and it is a nice rebound to comedy for him. But on the other hand, you have Kevin Nealon as a gay lawyer, Woody Harrelson as a German cross dresser, and John Tuturro as a possibly gay Grenada vet. Plus, at least a good ten minutes focus on the size of one's, how do I say, special organ. So, once again, great potential is ruined by Adam Sandler's own comic ways.

A good, brainless, relaxation comedy is what "Anger Management" has turned out to be. It's a pity.

My Score: 5 (out of 10)
