The most shocking thing you will see on American TV is on the Anthony Bourdain show.Not the host,who is one of a handful of people worth watching.What is shocking is that the Bourdain show is constantly interrupted by unwanted and intrusive warnings about the dangerous Bourdain!.Abandon all hope-You are leaving Checkpoint Charlie-WE are not responsible.
About the only things to be trusted on TV are PBS,C-Span,Bill Mahr,and Anthony Bourdain.
Did TV warn you about the War in Iraq,Vietnam,Nixon or Bush?
While TV got most of its ad revenue from alcohol and cigarettes,did they warn you?
No! They feel they have to warn me about Anthony Burdain and Naom Chomsky!
The head of the Bush Department of Transportation was being asked by a reporter if SUV's did not pose a danger to compact cars.He agreed.His solution-get rid of compact cars!
Anthony Bourdain's show first aired on the Food Ch in 2002,but they found him too controversial.This is the food CH that hosts Emeril,Sandra Lee,Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay.
In 2005 Bourdain's show moved to the TRavel Ch,which thinks that commercials for junk food is normal but kids should be warned about Bourdain's show.
Anthony Bourdain is the only person in public life who warns that the epidemic of child diabetes is the result of the junk food industry tageting kids with their ads:"they were deliberately targeting children with their advertising,then knowingly raising them to be no-necked artetrially clogged diabetics".
Bourdain,together with Mario Batali,Thomas Keller,and Alice Waters are part of a movement to save America,and in particular the school lunch program, from junk food.Spiritually,all this goes back to the Free Speech movement at Berkely.Organic Farms and Food co-ops appeared on every campus.
Within this counterculture were a group of elitist who had lived in France and knew that the choice was not between McDonalds and Tofu,healthy food could be gourmet food.
When Bourdain shows us how poor people in Vietnam eat better than rich people in Texas,he is teaching us the same lesson as when MIchael MOore shows poor people in Cuba receiving better medical treatment than Americans WITH insurance.
