Dan and Nancy: Now Playing
The Broomfield Enterprise, Broomfield, CO

Wesley Snipes stars as a vampire hunter who is half-human, half-vampire. He has all the strengths of vampires but none of their weaknesses. In this sequel he forms an alliance with the vampires in order to deal with a greater threat, the Reapers. They are a mutant vampire race that threatens to take over the world. Also starring Kris Kristofferson ("Planet of the Apes"). Rated ?R' for pure violence. Time spent hoping vampires are allergic to your blood type: 108 minutes.

Nancy's Take: If you want to see a movie with lots of action and violence, some more action and violence, and, oh, did I mention some more action and violence, then "Blade II" is the movie to see.
There are plenty of vampires, teeth, and weapons used. "Blade II" was much better than the first. This one didn't seem as gruesome and never seemed to drag. Most of the time a sequel never lives up to the original, but in this case my theory was proven wrong. One thing that seemed to bug me was how all the vampires can't bring Blade down. It reminded me of "Walker: Texas Ranger" and how for some reason he never gets injured and he can take anyone down.
Was this movie worth the price of admission? Yes, but this is definitely not a family movie. And for some, make sure you don't eat anything before seeing it. Don't expect much dialog or award winning acting, but you will be entertained from beginning to end. Would I see it again? I'm sure it will be a part of my collection.

Dan's take: I really didn't know if I was going to like this flick but it turned out to be a pretty cool movie.
The best things about it were the evil super-vampires that Blade had to kill. They rival the bad guys in "Lord of the Rings" as some of the coolest bad guys around. No matter how many times they got kicked or shot with silver bullets, they just kept fighting. It was great. There is a lot of gruesome and intense violence in the flick so it's not for everyone.
One thing I found funny was Wesley Snipes' character, Blade. I think he learned everything he knows by watching other TV and movie action heroes. First he learned how to hunt down and kill vampires by watching reruns of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Next, he watched every Jackie Chan movie he could find to learn all martial arts he uses. Then he watched "The Terminator" to get the tough-guy attitude from Arnold. Finally, he dug up all of Clint Eastwood's old flicks and perfected his raspy, tough-guy voice. Put them all together and you get Blade.
Is "Blade II" worth the price of admission? Yes, but mostly for fans of the original "Blade" or those who just dig vampires. Would I see it again? No, I'm scared there might be real vampires in the theater waiting for the lights to go out.
