Ashley Judd stars as a lawyer who must represent her husband as he stands trial in a military court for murder. He is accused of killing several unarmed villagers on a mission in Central America and insists that he is innocent of the charges. She encounters strong resistance in her attempts to uncover the truth. Also starring Morgan Freeman ("Along Came A Spider"), Jim Caviezel ("The Count of Monte Cristo"), and Amanda Peet ("Saving Silverman"). Rated ?PG-13' for violence, language, and sexuality. Time fighting for your half of the armrest: 105 minutes.

Nancy's take: Have you ever thought everything in your life was right on track only to have it suddenly change for the worse? This happens to Ashley Judd in "High Crimes." This movie will keep you guessing from beginning to end.
Ashley Judd did a wonderful job. Ladies, don't let the popcorn bucket fool you. Your man isn't hungry; he just needs something to catch his drool as he watches Ashley. The thing that bothers me is how in every movie she's been in recently she is always the victim of some strange, wacky crime. Watching her movies is like watching a soap opera; it's always the same storyline, just with different characters. She needs to be more daring and expand her comfort level. Some of this movie was similar to "Double Jeopardy," but some of it was original.
Morgan Freeman is another person who did a good job. His character was funny and kept you intrigued. Jim Caviezel also did a good job as the husband. His character did a wonderful job in keeping a straight face that never seemed to crack.
Is this movie worth the price of admission? Yes. Maybe because of the way you're never too certain what was going to happen and for the way it shows that sometimes the only one who you can trust is a complete stranger. Would I see it again? Maybe, I'm not really sure.

Dan's take: When you go to an Ashley Judd flick you pretty much know you'll get a halfway-decent flick. You can also bank on a case of deja vu because every one of her action flicks feels exactly the same. It's always her starring next to a big-name actor and a story about either hunting down or running from someone with somebody else trying to stop her. Seen it before, Ashley. I have heard that she is going to play Catwoman in an upcoming "Batman" spin-off, so maybe we'll get to see another side of her.
The storyline in "High Crimes" moves quickly from the beginning and never gets slow. However, it doesn't get interesting until a government conspiracy starts to surface. I like stories about conspiracies because they're fun to watch unravel and they make me wonder how many other cover-ups there are.
As far as the rest of the movie, it won't win any Oscars but nobody will get up and walk out either.
So, is "High Crimes" worth the price of admission? Only if you're a big Judd fan and have seen everything from "Double Jeopardy" to her cameo in "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Would I see it again? I feel like I already have.
