Welcome ladies and gentleman to the 40 of the Scariest Films of all time. The films below are scary in various ways comprising of psychological, physical, and mentally chilling films. You'll be amazed of the diversity of the films as you read through the list.
When an individual thinks frightening, scary, or otherwise the first word that comes to mind is horror, correct? In this particular case it's not always so because you'll discover the scare doesn't always come from films like The Shining, The Exorcist, or The Omen just to mention a few film titles. A scary motion picture can also send a wake-up call to the world and a harsh, but true reality. Take for example films like Kids, A Simple Plan, Affliction, or The Ice Storm. They bring to the table a brilliant but different calling presenting a scary outlook but with an important "message" even though we want to close our eyes to it. Kids brought our attention to the world of being a teenager and dealing with drugs, sex, AIDS, social issues, relationships, and suicide. 40 of the Scariest Films isn't just made up of what makes you scream, but what helps us to have a more cautious awareness of the things around us.

Halloween should be number 1. The Exorcist isn't scary at all

Dan Berman (Author) Adds:    8/14/2003
Thankyou, Charlie for your suggestion on my 40 Scariest Films list. Your right, Halloween does belong closer to the number 1 scariest film of all time.
